To start with, its not your conventional floor paint. Epoxy coating is better aesthetics – shine gloss finish, waterproof, super easy to clean so you can keep it free of stains and available in a variety of colors. Its unconventional and superior in all terms of strength and looks.
Epoxy flooring consists of a mix of two components rather then other paint categories where there is just single component either water based or oil based. Epoxy floor are curated with a mix of one – Resin/ Pigment and two – hardener which when mixed together form a firm and durable coating, provided you use a good quality epoxy – which we provide. An epoxy coating will cohere to the floor be it your garage flooring or any other concrete flooring in far better manner then a regular paint coat.
We have been in the business of garage floor coating for a good time now and epoxy floors have been the best in reponse so far. They are highly lauded concrete sealers.
Also, not all the epoxy floor coating are the same. There is a variation in proportion of mixing ratio and quality and build. Thats something you wont need to worry about as it would be taken care by us in all aspects.
Epoxy garage floors need good floor preparation for an effective coating, which is important. In order to ensure a tough and resistant coating, quality epoxy floor systems typically require several coats. For those cement floors that are somewhat prone to moisture vapour, primers can serve as a moisture barrier.
Epoxy, when exposed to sunlight for a period of time, can turn yellow or amber, as the industry calls it. The final coat is the top coat, which is transparent . This is what gives the finish the shiny appearance and depth for which these floors are renowned.

Applying the garage floor epoxy yourself is the least costly way of obtaining a better coating. For the enthusiastic “do it yourself” guy, this isn’t too hard. It is possible to buy for less than $300 a quality single coat 100 percent solid epoxy package that will cover a regular 2-car garage. However, this does not include any costs for floor preparation or extra equipment. If you wish to install a transparent top coat, expect to pay approximately $200 more.
Depending on the competition and area in which you work, a professional installation normally starts at about $4.00 a square foot. This typically requires a minimum of 3 coats and, depending on the amount of top coats used and how much paint flake is added to the base coat, the cost increases from there. To get an idea of the cost, a standard 2-car garage is about 400ft2.
The total time to complete the job and be able to park your car is approximately 3 to 5 days due to the healing time taken between epoxy coats. New polyaspartic and polyurea floor coating systems are now available that are easily curable and can be applied all in one day and powered on the next day. Skilled installation begins at about $6.00 a square foot for these systems. Due to their rapid cure rate, the average DIY person who is not confident in their abilities should not apply them.
The differences between garage floor epoxies and garage paints and the differences between different types of epoxies need to be understood. Single part items manufactured in either oil or water based formats are standard garage floor paints. Typically they are used for wall and ceiling applications and are not ideal for applications such as epoxy flooring that can have anything from heavy foot traffic to vehicles rolling over it weighing several tons.
Epoxy floor paints are often a commodity of two components, whereas standard floor paints are a single component. Epoxies consist of a part A that is the part of the resin/pigment and a part B that is the part of the hardener. Just like epoxy glue, they harden to form a very tough coating when you mix Part A & Part B together. That’s if you’re using an epoxy of high quality. The majority of epoxies dependent on water are inferior and are no better than semi-gloss standard paint.
Many solid-based epoxy flooring paints are also inferior, but it is much more difficult to tell which ones are inferior and of high quality. We will show you how to say the difference between actual industrial grade floor epoxy paints in the following paragraphs from those that are merely industrial grade in name only.
